What We Into This Week #3
Takes on a Plane!
Happy Wednesday, y’all! Remember when I said this was going to be a newsletter that drops on Mondays? Anyway, let’s get into this week on hump day. I sprint forward into my busiest season while somehow trying to add even more travel into it. If you didn’t hear, they’re taking down the Gundam Unicorn statue in Japan this August, so I’m going to force a weekend visit during my tour and figure out sleep some other time. I went to see the RX-78-2 when it was in Yokohama, but missed the Unicorn statue on that trip, so I’ll make the pilgrimage before they rip it away from us.
I don’t know which cosplayer needs to hear this, but con season is upon us. I’m doing a show in Indianapolis the same weekend as Indy Comic Con, so if you’re around there, you should definitely come out. Then there’s San Diego Comic Con, which I’m helping kick off with a show 20 mins out of the city. See a trend here? I know my fans, so I’m sneaking shows in whenever you’re traveling to a con. I’m hoping to have a few demos ready by Gen Con, so buckle up for that! Comedy AND games? What a concept.
🎼Music
I keep diving in and out of the OST for NeoTokyo, which was a Source mod that was based on Ghost In A Shell: Stand Alone Complex. A hat on a hat on a hat if you will. It’s really good, though, and the composer, Ed Harrison, has some great stuff out besides that. You

I was in Atlanta this weekend visiting my partner and I was taking her through Mob Psycho 100, which is so good I got a tattoo of it on my left thigh. Rewatching it knowing the outcome of season 1 is really fun, and I have to remember to take the time to rewatch my faves. I think my huge backlog of “things to watch” keeps me from doing that, but I’m going to try to remember nonetheless. I’m going to do the long distance couple thing of watching it and talking about it after over the phone, so if you see me posting Mob Psycho AMVs in the next coming days, now you know why.
🧩Hobby
I’m cooking up some good stuff with the folks who make Gudnak, which if you haven’t heard of already, let me tell you all about it. Gudnak is a strategy card battler game that combines the fun of TCGs with the positioning and arrangement strategy of a board game. You play on a 3x3 square grid in front of your base and use the cards to defend yours and attack your opponents. All of the cards you need are in the sets you buy and you’ll never be cracking packs to hunt down your win con. There are so many combinations and playstyles with each faction and I’m so hooked on this game. I’m using the power of polyamory to get all my partners playing and hold a mini tournament.
I’m currently on a plane back to LA, so please excuse all the grammatical errors and typos that may have arisen. They put me and a fellow thicc fella next to each other and luckily he’s a fan, so I’m using up all of his goodwill towards me to elbow him while I type this out. I’m glad I’m staying consistent with this, albeit a little late, but fuck it we ball! See y’all next week.
